Our Story...
Not so long ago in Ukraine...
Hello. My name is Igor, and I was born and raised in Kharkiv, Ukraine. I’ve been fascinated by audio since middle school, when I first realized how much emotion and detail good sound can bring into your life.
That excitement quickly ran into a wall: truly great audio gear was expensive, far beyond what I could afford. So I did what many curious people do — I started building things myself. At first it was speakers and subwoofers, one DIY experiment after another, each project teaching me something new. Headphones came later, around 2016.
One moment that pushed everything forward happened in a small headphone shop in Kharkiv. I remember walking in, trying a few well-known models, and being honestly shocked by the price tags — especially considering how average they sounded to me. I pointed this out to the salesman, and he laughed and said, “Well, try making something even this good first.”
It was a joke, nothing more. But it stuck with me. That joke turned into a friendly bet, and that bet slowly grew into what we now call Verum Audio. Sometimes the best ideas start as challenges you weren’t even planning to take seriously — until you do.
What followed were hundreds of experiments — some promising, many frustrating, and plenty that went absolutely nowhere. There were moments when everything I tried failed, when I felt stuck, angry, and sure I had reached a dead end. More than once I dropped the whole project for half a year or longer, convinced it just wasn’t meant to be.

But little by little, things started to click. A solution here, a breakthrough there — enough progress to keep me moving. Eventually I shared my DIY prototype on a few audio forums, not expecting much. Instead, I received support, curiosity, and genuine interest from people who wanted to follow the project. That’s when it hit me: this wasn’t something only I needed. Other people were looking for the same honest, accessible sound. And that realization pushed me to keep going.
